Group Classes

MuttSchool's group class instructors teach you along with your dog. You and your dog will establish a system of lifelong communication by building behaviors and strengthening skills. We teach so that it's a fun, positive experience for both of you. We are dedicated to provide you with the tools you need to have a confident, well-mannered and happy canine.

Please note: Group classes are not appropriate for dogs with behavioral problems, dogs that are disruptive in a kennel or reactive dogs (dogs that growl, bark or lunge on leash). We do have other training options for dogs with these behavioral challenges.

Puppy Classes

Puppyhood is the most crucial developmental stage in a dog's life. MuttSchool offers age-appropriate classes for puppies starting at 8 weeks of age. Start your puppy off on the right paw for the ultimate training and socialization experience.

Foundation Group Classes

MuttSchool's group classes are not just about training sit and down (although we do that, too!). We train your dog to be polite, at home and in public, while teaching you problem-solving dog training skills that you can use outside of our classroom.

Private lessons offer a personalized way to train your dog.

Enjoy the flexibility of working one-on-one with a MuttSchool instructor based on your schedule and availability. These lessons can be held at your home or another agreed upon location.

*Please note that Behavior Modification lessons are done in Manhattan at our training facility.

Evaluation

In the 90-minute evaluation, a MuttSchool instructor will meet with you and your dog to determine your dog's level of training and observe your dog's behavior first hand. Together we will devise a training plan that meets your dog's training needs. To get you started off on the right paw, we will also review our orientation packet.

Foundation Private Lessons

Build a solid foundation for your dog while training on your own time at home, a nearby park or at our facility. Private lessons focus on attention exercises, sit, down, wait, stay, loose-leash walking, come when called, polite greetings, house training, impulse-control, and confidence building.

Having a dog with behavioral problems IS challenging. It is easy to get discouraged with your dog's misbehavior. The good news is that depending on how self-rewarding the unwanted behavior has been to your dog, most of the time it can be solved through patience, consistency and training.
